honestly, i am quite grateful to have found this page again. somehow, someway...i lost it. but i needed the vent and here it is!
last semester i had such high hopes for my grades such a wonderful and pure view of my college life. well, i failed two classes and ended up with a GPA so low, that i am ashamed to post it here. gradewise...it was a complete and total failure. socially, thats another story. there are not too many freshmen on campus who dont know me. i hate to admit...but my father was right. with the mindset i went into my first semester with, i was bound to fail.
the good: i still learned plenty of useful thing that will aid me in my fight against amerika.
i have found a friend. there has been one person who i have seen everyday since before homecoming. if ever i had a best friend, it is him. there WAS nowhere we would go without the other close by. things change. now he has a reason for not being seen. Gabby Todd, my friend since seventh grade is now his girlfriend. this being said, i do not see my friend as much anymore. i am back to doing what i do best, be alone. this is no "woe is me"...its simply fact.
i have seen many things here at HU all ranging from an emergency room full of crackheads and one china man who cut off his ear. to the great Angela Davis herself. i still love Howard University, but now i know what college is. and now, i am prepared to taste success.

the move-in

...life has begun. high school is over, summer is done, college has yet to truly start. freshmen oritation week has barely gotten underway and already i can tell that this is where i need to be. washington dc...howard university.
the move-in was short and simple, at least for me. being the first in line to actually recieve my keys and unload my personals, i moved in first and with swiftness. only actually getting my room together was a slight hassle.
my parents and i have been in dc for the past two days. we have gotten along wonderfully [which is saying alot]. we havent had the slightest altercation. wonderful.
after getting "settled"... i roamed. many people i had met on facebook were attending hu. some of us met. john knight, ahmed inhram, gabby todd, to name a few. all day we ventured around campus looking for things to do. we went to macdonalds at least 3 times.
my family had left to pick up a few last minuet items. i was trying to head to "china town" upon their return...my plans were cancelled. after an hour of after the move-in move-ins, my family finally left...for good. the feeling was so surreal. so unbelieveable. so foregin...it still hasnt quite sunk in yet.
after my last final goodbye, i walked back to the yard. i ran into ahmed and john with a small crowd of ladies [5 to be exact]. we ended up roaming the campus, going to macdonalds, and finally sitting in the yard.
this is where the most inspirational moment of my life happened [...well kinda...]
we sat on the benches...ten of us. chatting.small talk. simply exploring one anothers mind. conversation seemed to get deeper and deeper as time passed. topics went from defination of sexy to malcolm vs king to religion to bush to katrina racism races...to list all the topics would be quite the task so i refuse to do so.
i, after searching for so long, finally found a group who could relate to my philsophy of life and understand my reasoning. people who wnated to see change in the black nation, in the way blacks are viewed, the way the color black is viewed. we wanted change. we argued, debated, agreed, and expressed a lot of emotions through our words. it was love.
we stayed out well past six-thirty having met at midnight. it was beyond wonderful.
if there was ever a way to spend one's first night at any decent university, we found it.
love.
